Iceland's biggest birthday party
Bubbi, Iceland's top selling domestic artist celebrated his 50th birthday to a sell-out crowd at Laugardalshöllin stadium. SagaEvents organised the event while SagaFilm shot the whole thing and broadcast it live on Channel 2.
On 06.06.06 Iceland’s biggest musical phenomena, Bubbi, turned 50. He joined forces with Vodafone to produce a one-off, 3 hour concert to celebrate his musical achievements. SagaFilm and SagaEvents were contacted to oversee the production. SagaEvents took over the role of concert planner while SagaFilm prepared to shoot the concert, broadcast it live and produce a DVD to be released by Sena publishers.
Although we at SagaEvents had not, until Bubbi, produced big concerts our reputation preceded us and we did not let our clients down. SagaEvents worked with SagaFilm to produce a stage setting that would serve the best interests of both those attending the concert and those sitting at home watching the event. With 5 bands, solo performances from Bubbi and 4 solo artists we set up two stages, one of which with a ramp where Bubbi was able to perform on his own while a new band set up on the main stage. In addition four massive screens were set up to broadcast the goings on and 27 plasma screens framed the back of the main stage.
Luxor, our technical department, took the stage by storm and rigged up what most agreed was one of the most impressive displays of ligthing seen in Iceland.
This was an important project for the Saga companies as for the first time the TV, event planning and technical department were able to fully deliver a project without having to rely much on outside suppliers. This kind of in-house knowledge and technical capability firmly places SagaEvents at the forefront of Event organisers and executors in Iceland.
