SagaEvents captures the essence of Icelandic literatureSagaEvents, working closely with Sagafilm and Luxor produced and staged the Icelandic Pavillion at the Frankfurt Book Fair where Iceland was the guest of honour. Iceland was the Guest of Honor this year with creative installation in 2.500 sqm Pavillion. With attendance hugely exceeding expectation and reactions going beyond our hopes, we can safely say that the project was a huge success. The event got enormous international attention and below you can find some of the quotes: “Whoever is in need of reprieve and tranquillity, or wanting for an immediate encounter between book and reader, should go to Frankfurt. The Icelandic guest of honour presentation is an oasis in the midst of the book fair's hustle and bustle.” Die Welt 13.10.2011 http://www.welt.de/print/die_welt/kultur/article13657898/Szenen-einer-Buchmesse.html “All-around admiration for the unpretentious presentation of the book fair's guest of honour. Upon entering the Pavilion, one is enveloped in softly lit warmth and immediately encouraged to read. Here, the focus is not on authors or national symbols, but on reading.” Boersenblatt.net 13.10.2011 http://www.boersenblatt.net/459209/ “The Guest of Honour Iceland wins of hearts of everyone with its presentation. Seldom has a guest country offered such a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere in the Pavilion.” ARD 11.10.2011 http://www.hr-online.de/website/specials/buchmesse2011/index.jsp?rubrik=67871&key=standard_document_42844078 “The cosiest Guest of Honour presentation yet.” Deutschlandradio Kultur 11.10.2011 http://www.dradio.de/dkultur/sendungen/fazit/1577486/ “The Icelandic Pavilion refuses cheap effects, gimmicky installations, roaring propaganda for a brave new electronic world, and the whole nerve-numbing, soulless advertising din in general. The idea that once applied universally to the book fair is here encountered in its purest form: literature is a unique product, to which justice can be done only with the utmost care and sensitivity.” Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung 12.10.2011 “Finally a spot-on presentation […] Finally, no museum-like trifles, no deafening touristic din. Sensuously and with bold simplicity, the island presents itself with a labyrinth of giant projection screens showing only one thing: reading Icelanders.” Nürnberger Zeitung 13.10.2011 http://www.nordbayern.de/nuernberger-zeitung/sagenhaft-island-auf-der-frankfurter-buchmesse-1.1579151 “On its gigantic screens, the most beautiful guest of honour presentation within living memory features Icelanders reading at home, in front of their sizeable private libraries." Frankfurter Rundschau 15.10.2011 http://www.fr-online.de/frankfurter-buchmesse/buchmesse-und-dann-der-traum-vom-echten-buch,4687284,11011744.html “With their guest of honour presentation, Icelanders have unpretentiously but effectively captured the hearts of the book fair's visitors […] a literary wellness oasis in the hubbub of the book fair.” Börsenblatt 42/2011 “Everyone agrees: Iceland's guest of honour presentation was the best in a long time.” Frankfurter Rundschau 17.10.2011 “Impossible as it may sound, Iceland manages to offer a momentary reprieve from the current e-book mania. Its Pavilion is one of the most beautiful in recent years […] The staging is both genuine and aptly chosen to represent the island.” El País 12.10.2011 http://www.elpais.com/articulo/cultura/Islandia/literaria/pugna/economica/Francfort/elpepucul/20111012elpepucul_4/Tes Published: 01.12.2011 00:02 |
